On Tuesday, October 5, 2010, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle crash northbound on State Highway 55, just south of New Meadows. At approximately 11:30a.m., Michael Warden, 56 from Payette, was northbound on State Highway 55 near mile marker 151. Warden was driving a dump truck and pup trailer that was loaded with hot asphalt. For unknown reasons, his vehicle left roadway on the right side and drove up an embankment. Both the truck and the pup trailer overturned, causing an undetermined amount of asphalt to spill across the entire roadway. The road was blocked both north and southbound for an hour until one lane could be cleared for traffic. The northbound lane was completely blocked for approximately four hours. Warden was transported to McCall Memorial by ground ambulance, where he was treated and released for minor injuries. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police Trooper M. Wright, with assistance from Trooper L. Ferris, Valley County Sheriff's Office and EMS.
