On February 28th, 2017 at approximately 5:20 PM an injury crash occurred on Cottonwood Creek Rd approximately 1/4 mile south of Tom Beall road, north of Culdesac, ID. A black 2004 Chevy Trailblazer driven by Anthony W Gill (42 years) of Lewiston, ID was traveling northbound on Cottonwood Creek Road. He failed to maintain his lane, crossed into oncoming traffic lane and went off the roadway into a field. The vehicle overturned, pinning Gill between the vehicle and the ground. Gill was not wearing his seatbelt. The roadway was not blocked. Alcohol is involved and the investigation continues.

On February 28th, 2017 at approximately 5:05 PM, an injury crash occurred on US95 near milepost 280.4, just north of Winchester,ID. A white 1997 Honda Civic driven by a 17-year old juvenile, lost control of his vehicle and went left of center striking a southbound vehicle. The southbound vehicle was a white 2011 Ford F350 pickup driven by Samuel R. Ruggles (31 years). The Ford pickup then struck the guardrail on the west shoulder and rolled approximately 100 feet down the embankment. The roadway was blocked for approximately 4-hours during the recovery of the pickup. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts. The Honda Civic had a 15-year old juvenile passenger. The investigation continues.

On Monday, February 28, 2017, at approximately 4:22 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash westbound on US-26 near mile marker 391, eleven miles west of the Idaho/Wyoming border.

Ianne W. Henry, 77, of Afton, WY was driving eastbound on US-26 in a 2014 Subaru. Cody l. Wright, 23, of Bedford, WY was driving westbound in a 2005 Pontiac Grand Am. John C. Hedges, 39, of Rigby, ID was driving westbound in a 2006 Chevy Silverado.

Henry drove left of the center line, sideswiping Wright. Henry continued into the westbound lane hitting Hedges head-on.

Henry was not wearing a seat belt and succumbed to her injuries at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. Passengers in Wright's vehicle were Zach T. Mathes, 21, of Afton, WY and Buck S. Putnam, 21, of Auburn, WY. Wright, his passengers and Hedges were wearing seatbelts.

The westbound lane was blocked for approximately four hours.

On Friday, February 24, 2017, at approximately 12:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury crash eastbound I86 at milepost 58, near Chubbuck. Lee Savage, 34, of Chubbuck, was driving a 2014 Ram pickup eastbound on I86 near 58. Savage lost control and went off the left shoulder into the median and vehicle rolled coming to rest on its top. Savage attempted to get out of the vehicle, it shifted and pinned him.
Savage was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Savage was wearing a seatbelt. Lanes was blocked for approximately two hours.

On Feb. 21, the Idaho State Police headquarters welcomed a new public information officer, Tim Marsano.

On Thursday, February 23, 2017, at approximately 4:49 am, Idaho State Police investigated a two commercial vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 142, near Bliss. Ronik Hartonia, 60 years old, of Glendale, California, was driving eastbound in a 2009 Freightliner hauling a box trailer. Angel Ponce, 49 years old, of Los Angeles, California, was driving eastbound in a 2014 Kenworth. Hartonia's vehicle jackknifed in the lane of travel and Ponce's vehicle struck Hartonia's vehicle causing the eastbound lanes to be blocked. Hartonia and Ponce were both wearing seatbelts. The lanes were blocked for approximately three hours as crews cleared the scene.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at approximately 1:06 p.m. Idaho State Police investigated crash on U.S. Highway 93 near milepost 43, just west of Twin Falls.

Jon Williams, age 53, of Nampa, was driving southbound in a 1994 Volvo commercial vehicle with a Fleetwood mobile home trailer attached. There were gusts of wind up to 27 mph in the area at the time of the crash. Williams rounded the curve near milepost 43 and a gust of wind dislodged the attached Fleetwood mobile home. The Fleetwood mobile home tipped over and skidded across the two northbound lanes of U.S. 93.

The two northbound lanes of U.S. 93 are currently blocked while the wrecker crew works to clears the scene. Williams was not injured and was wearing his seatbelt.

On Tuesday, February 21, 2017, at approximately 1:06 p.m. Idaho State Police investigated crash on U.S. Highway 93 near milepost 43, just west of Twin Falls.

Jon Williams, age 53, of Nampa, was driving southbound in a 1994 Volvo commercial vehicle with a Fleetwood mobile home trailer attached. On February 19, 2017, at approximately 10:29 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle property damage crash eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 at milepost 376.5, near Fish Creek Summit in Caribou County. Brent Elison, age 64, of Blackfoot, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 in a 2017 Freightliner commercial vehicle pulling a single trailer when he lost control of the commercial vehicle at the bottom of the hill. Elison's commercial vehicle slid off the westbound shoulder and jackknifed, coming to rest in the westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 30.

The westbound lanes of travel are still blocked at this time. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Friday, February 17, 2017, at approximately 9:01 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian fatality crash on Interstate 84 at the 27 off ramp for Centennial Rd. in Caldwell. Gonzalo Vasquez, 27, of Caldwell, was travelling eastbound in a 2006 Ford F350 when David Trefren, 44, of Yakima, WA, walked into the lane of travel. Vasquez's vehicle struck Trefren. Trefren succumbed to his injuries on scene.

Vasquez was wearing a seatbelt. Next of kin have been notified. The off ramp was blocked for approximately two hours. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On February 17, 2017, at approximately 10:07 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of State Highway 77 and Interstate 84, north of Declo, ID. Juan Palomo Jr., age 30, of Evanston, WY, was driving eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 216 off-ramp in a 2006 Hyundai Azera. Lloyd Thornton, age 81, of Declo, ID, was driving northbound on State Highway 77 in a 2008 Cadillac CTS. Palomo's vehicle crossed State Highway 77 and pulled in front of Thornton's vehicle while getting onto Interstate 84. Thornton struck Palomo's vehicle and came to rest in the northbound lane of State Highway 77. Palomo was transported by a personal vehicle to Cassia Regional Medical Center. Thornton was transported by a personal vehicle to Minidoka Memorial Hospital.

The northbound lane of State Highway 77 was blocked for approximately one hour while crews worked to clear the scene. Palomo and Thornton were wearing their seatbelts. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Monday, February 13,2017, at approximately 11:19 a.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a two commercial vehicle crash on Interstate 15 at milepost 92, near Blackfoot. Dario Alvarez, 21, of Burley, was travelling southbound in a 2006 Freightliner with two trailers. One of the wheel assemblies from the trailer separated and traveled across the median striking a trailer being towed by a 2017 Volvo tractor, driven by Michael Laabs, 70, of Chubbuck, who was traveling northbound.

The right lane for northbound travel was blocked for two and a half hours as crews cleared the scene.

Tawnie Share, age 27 of Buhl, was driving a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee eastbound on U.S. Highway 30. At milepost 193.4, lost control, went off the left shoulder, and rolled. The vehicle came to rest on its top in a field. Share was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Sunday, February 12, 2017, at approximately 12:17 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle injury crash on I-15 near milepost 86, south of Blackfoot.

Gaven Cerino, 23, of Fort Hall, was driving northbound on I-15 in a 2007 Ford Fusion. Cerino's vehicle went off the left shoulder striking a guardrail, and then continued into the median where it overturned.

Cerino was transported by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital. Cerino was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, and alcohol was involved.

On February 11, 2017, at approximately 11:35 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash on U.S. Highway 30 at milepost 27.5, near New Plymouth.

Henry Guilford, age 77, of Payette, ID, was driving westbound on U.S. Highway 30 in a 1992 Ford F150 pickup. Brandon Schon, age 33, of Ontario, OR, was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 30 on a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Guilford turned left onto Southwest 2nd Avenue from U.S. Highway 30 and was struck by Schon's motorcycle. Schon was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash. Next of kin notification has been made.

Guilford was not wearing a seatbelt and Schon was not wearing a helmet. The eastbound and westbound lanes of U.S. Highway 30 were blocked for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Fatal Injury Crash Between Carey and Arco

On February 9, 2017, at approximately 11:50 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a crash on
US 20/26/93 at milepost 222, between Carey and Arco.

Jeremy Sommers, 22, of West Valley, UT was driving westbound on US 20/26/93 in a 2003 Peterbilt semi, pulling three trailers loaded with hay bales. At milepost 222, the rear trailer flipped onto its driver's side, spilling the load of hay into the eastbound travel lane.

Ryan James Yancey, 31, of Portland, OR was driving eastbound in a 2013 Freightliner semi, pulling a 2014 utility box trailer. Yancey struck the hay bales, and then struck a large snow berm off the south side of the road.

Yancey and Sommers were both wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Yancey succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Next of kin notification has been made.

The road was intermittently closed for approximately six hours while the crash scene was investigated and the vehicles were recovered.

The Idaho Transportation Department advises that U.S. Highway 30 at the Deep Creek Bridge, west of Buhl, is currently overrun with water and is blocked to travel at this time. Motorists are advised to find alternate routes.

There is also significant water currently on State Highway 46 near Buhl and motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes of travel. Traffic on S.H. 46 near Buhl is not blocked at this time, but conditions are deteriorating due to increasing water over the roadway and it may be blocked to travel in the near future.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution when approaching or traveling through any water covering the roadway as the depth of the water may be difficult to judge and other hazards may exist.

On Tuesday, February 8, 2017, at approximately 10:38 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle rollover crash on US26 near milepost 184, in Lincoln County.

Robert Tetzloff, 54, of Bismark, ND, was traveling eastbound in a 1999 Kenworth with a commercial trailer when he hit a pothole, lost control of his vehicle, and rolled.

Tetzloff was transported by ground ambulance to St Luke's Magic Valley in Twin Falls. He was not wearing a seatbelt. At this time, one lane of travel is still blocked as crews continue to investigate

At approximately 8:17 am, Wednesday, February 8,2017, the Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle rollover westbound on Interstate 86 at milepost 47, two miles west of the Rainbow Road exit. Abel Guerrero, age 34 of Pocatello, was driving a 2000 GMC Sierra Pickup when he encountered a patch of ice and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the median. Two juvenile passengers were ejected and all three occupants were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

On February 4, 2017 at 10:20 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on U.S. Highway 93 near milepost 53.5, in front of the Flying J. John Gott, 33, of Twin Falls, was northbound on U.S. 93 in a Ford F-250 driving in the left lane. Mickey McConnell, 50, of Umatilla, Oregon, was stationary in a Ford Expedition waiting to turn southbound from the Flying J parking lot. McConnell's vision was obstructed by a semi turning into the parking lot. As he attempted the left turn southbound, he failed to yield to and collided with Gott's F-250.

Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, and airbags deployed in the Expedition. McConnell was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center. The left northbound lane was blocked for approximately one hour while emergency crews worked to clear the scene. The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Friday, February 3, 2017 at approximately 11:20 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle injury crash at the intersection of US95 at Boehner Road, in Canyon County.

Kasaundra Curtis, 22, of Caldwell, was traveling southbound on US95 in a 2002 Ford Taurus. Curtis' vehicle crossed the center line and left the roadway on the left side of the road, where it rolled.

Curtis was transported to St. Alphonsus in Boise by air ambulance. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

All lanes of US95 were blocked for approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes while crews investigated.

On Friday, February 3, 2017, at 9:18 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a multiple vehicle injury crash eastbound State Highway 50 at mile marker 4, outside the Travelers Oasis.

Tanner M. Hall, 24, of Twin Falls, was driving westbound in a 1995 Dodge Pickup. Hall drifted into the center of the road and struck an oncoming freight liner traveling east bound. Hall sustained minor injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley in Twin Falls. The driver of the freight liner, Samuel Thompson, sustained no injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
