On Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at approximately 4:36 P.M., Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on US20, near milepost 393, in Island Park.

Michael Surette, 32, of Calgary, Alberta, was traveling westbound on US20 in a 2011 BMW. Joi Draper, 54, of Lehi, Utah, was traveling eastbound on US20 in a 1994 Peterbilt semi-truck with one trailer. Surette lost control of his vehicle and crossed the center line going into oncoming traffic. Draper came to a complete stop in the eastbound lane and Surette hit her vehicle head on.

Surette succumbed to his injuries at the scene; he was not wearing his seatbelt. Draper was wearing her seatbelt. There was blockage in the area for approximately four hours. Next of kin has been notified.

Idaho State Police was assisted by the Fremont County Sheriff's Department.

On October 14th, 2018, ISP arrested "Javier Luna-Gutierrez" for Trafficking 117 lbs. of Marijuana. During the traffic stop he had identified himself with a fictitious California Driver's license. The Department of Homeland Security Task Force ran name of "Javier Luna-Gutierrez" through their Federal Data base and discovered his true identity was Armando Sarmiento-Sarmiento. They were able to confirm his identity through a fingerprint check. The Idaho State Police followed-up on this new information and discovered that Sarmiento-Sarmiento had a United States Marshals Federal Warrant out of Utah.

The warrant was for the following charges:

Count 1 - Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
Count 2 - Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute
Count 3 - Possession of a Firearm and ammunition by an illegal Alien
Count 4 - Carrying a Firearm during and in relation to drug trafficking crime
Count 5 - Re-Entry of a previously removed Alien

In addition to being charged with Trafficking 117 lbs. of Marijuana, Sarmiento-Sarmiento was additionally charged by ISP for Providing False Information to An Officer, Driving Without Privileges, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Sarmiento-Sarmiento is currently being held in the Bonneville County Jail.

ISP News Release, Oct. 16, 2018: Marijuana trafficking charges resulting from Bonneville County traffic stop; 117 pounds seized, 2 people in custody

On October 14, 2018, ISP made a traffic stop on U.S. 20 near Idaho Falls. During the course of the traffic stop, 117 lbs. of packaged marijuana and a small amount of methamphetamine was discovered. The driver, Javier Luna-Gutierrez, 25, of Visalia, CA was arrested for trafficking marijuana and possession of methamphetamine. The passenger, Aida Rodriguez-Hernandez, 19, of Visalia, CA was arrested for trafficking marijuana. Both were booked into the Bonneville County Jail.

Additionally, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security has filed an Immigration Detainer on both subjects.

On October 30, 2018, at approximately 2:58 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a multiple-vehicle injury crash on westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 221.5, east of Burley in Cassia County.

John Greigg, 31, of Sonoma, CA, was driving a 2018 Ford F250 eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 221.5. Kolton King, 49, of Layton, UT, was driving westbound on Interstate 84 in a 2017 Freightliner commercial vehicle pulling two trailers. Greigg attempted to make a u turn from the eastbound lane of travel to the westbound lane of travel in a two lane construction zone and was struck by King. The Ford exited the interstate off the westbound shoulder. The Freightliner and one trailer rolled and came to rest on the westbound shoulder. The second trailer King was towing came unhooked and entered the eastbound lane of travel and struck a 2018 Petebilt commercial vehicle, driven by Rodney Parshall, 49, of Park Hill, MO. The second trailer then overturned blocking both eastbound and westbound lanes. The Peterbilt came to rest on the right shoulder.

Greigg was transported by air ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. King, Parshall, and his passenger Samantha Parshall, 46, also of Park Hill, were transported by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional Hospital in Burley.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately two and a half hours.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Monday, October 29, 2018, at 9:41 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 26 and East Iona Road in Idaho Falls.

Braden M. Foremaster, 18, of Idaho Falls, was driving a 1994 Mitsubishi Montero eastbound on E Iona Road when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of U.S. Highway 26.

David L. Sargis, 76, and his passenger Arlene Z. Sargis, 69, both of Idaho Falls, were westbound on U.S. Highway 26 when Foremaster struck the side of their 2017 GMC Sierra pickup.

Both eastbound lanes of U.S. Highway 26 were blocked for approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. Traffic was diverted to the westbound lanes.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts. No one was transported.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Sunday, October 28, 2018, at 4:48 pm, Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash northbound on US95 at mile marker 149.5, north of Fruitvale.

A driver in a 1992 Chevrolet pick-up was traveling southbound on US95. Jennifer A. Schon, 39, of McCall, was traveling northbound in a 2015 Subaru Outback. The driver crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Outback coming to rest in the northbound lanes of travel.

Schon was wearing her seatbelt and her juvenile passenger was in an approved child safety seat. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was transported by Lifeflight to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. The name is being withheld pending positive identification.

The northbound lanes of US95 was blocked for two hours.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Philip Carringer, 53, of Nampa, was traveling eastbound in a 2014 Kenworth semi. Matthew Elmore, 39, of Caldwell, driving a 2014 Chevrolet Cruz rear ended Carringer.

On October 26th, at 5:20 am, the Idaho State Police responded to a single vehicle fatality crash on SH57 at 23.7, near Coolin, in the Priest Lake area. Levi Lemburg, 20 years old, of Dalton Gardens, Idaho was driving southbound on SH57 near milepost 24 in a white 2003 Ford F250, when he was travelling to fast for conditions and lost control of the truck as he was negotiating a corner. The truck turned broadside before entering the northbound ditch where it then rolled and came to rest against a tree. Lemberg was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the truck. He was pronounced deceased at the scene. Next of kin has been notified. Investigation continuing.

On Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at approximately 2:41 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle rollover crash involving a commercial vehicle. Benjamin D. Shannon, 18, of Nampa, was westbound on Interstate 184 at milepost 4, in Boise. Shannon was driving a 2010 International dump truck when he failed to negotiate a curve, went off the right shoulder, and steered the vehicle to the left. Shannon then steered back to the right, hit the barrier and the vehicle rolled, losing its load of dirt and concrete debris.

The right three lanes of travel were blocked for approximately three hours as crews cleaned up the debris.

Idaho State Police and allied law enforcement agencies conduct 2-day emphasis patrol near Lewiston resulting in drug seizures and arrests

On October 23 and 24, 2018, the Idaho State Police conducted an emphasis patrol on US Highway 12 and US Highway 95 near Lewiston, Idaho with support from the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office, Nez Perce Tribal Police Department and Idaho County Sheriff's Office. The focus of the patrol was to enhance traffic safety and disrupt criminal activity.
During the 2 day emphasis patrol, 156 vehicles were stopped for traffic violations. Upon further investigation of those stops, law enforcement identified 14 felony drug violations and 62 misdemeanor drug violations. Eight individuals were arrested for outstanding warrants and one driver was arrested for DUI. Multiple citations and warnings were issued for traffic violations. The Idaho State Police appreciates allied agency support of its mission to provide public safety across the State of Idaho through law enforcement excellence.

On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, at 3:40 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a multi-vehicle crash northbound on US91 near Fir Street in Shelley.

Marjorie K. Adams, 40, of Menan, was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Bravada northbound on US91.

Bruce V. Anthony, 66, of, Firth, was stopped at the stop light in the northbound left through lane on US91. Adams hit the rear of Anthony's 2002 Oldsmobile Alero causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles also stopped at the light. Gary M. Lamens, 66, of Blackfoot, who was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler, and Todd A. Wareing, 55, of Blackfoot, who was driving a 2014 Toyota Tundra. Wareing had a passenger in his vehicle, Stephanie Wareing, 48, also of Blackfoot

Anthony and his passenger, Janice L. Anthony, 62, also of Firth, were transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. All occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

All northbound lanes of US91 have been re-opened.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at approximately 3:34 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle property damage crash at 779 E 1200 N, just south of Shelley in Bingham county.

Jill Holley, 44, of Shelley, was stopped eastbound on 1200 N in a 1997 Bluebird school bus with the bus stop lights and stop sign activated. A juvenile driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima was eastbound on 1200 N and struck the rear of the school bus.

Neither Holley or the juvenile driver, or any children on the school bus, were injured.

The east bound lane of travel was blocked for approximately an hour and a half. The Idaho State Police was assisted by the Bingham County Sheriff's Office and Shelley PD.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, at 12:26 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash, eastbound US26 near milepost 336 at the intersection of Woodruff Ave in Idaho Falls.

Bodie Sargent, 42, of Idaho Falls, was driving westbound on US26 in a 2013 Ford F350 pickup. Teresa Hill, 47, of Idaho Falls, was driving eastbound on US26 near milepost 336 in a 2006 Toyota Sequoia. Sargent was turning left at the intersection of US26 and Woodruff Ave to continue southbound on Woodruff Ave and failed to yield the right-of-way to Hill. Sargent was not wearing a seatbelt. Hill was wearing a seatbelt.

OFFICERS RIDE THE RAILS TO CATCH
MOTORISTS VIOLATING GRADE CROSSING LAWS

WHAT: "Officer on the Train" program is designed to identify unsafe motorists who attempt to beat the train and violate Idaho grade crossing laws. This is an effort to increase public awareness of the potential dangers that exist at highway railroad intersections when traffic laws are violated.

WHO: The "Officer on the Train" program is sponsored Union Pacific Railroad, Idaho State Police, Idaho Operation Lifesaver, as well as local city and county law enforcement agencies. The briefing will include: Travis Campbell State Coordinator for Idaho Operation Lifesaver and officers from the agencies involved.

WHY: In 2017 Idaho had 15 incidents and 4 resulted in fatal injuries. 6 incidents have happened in 2018 with one resulting in a fatal injury. An incident happens about every three hours between a train and a motorist/pedestrian. We would like to change motorist's behavior and ultimately save lives.

OPPORTUNITIES: There is an opportunity for the media representatives to ride in the locomotive cab. If motorists violate the law by ignoring the signals, you may be able to obtain video of officers issuing citations to drivers. On Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at approximately 1:09 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash on southbound State Highway 55, near milepost 81, north of Banks in Boise county.

Fredrik Egurrola, 70, of Homedale, was driving northbound on State Highway 55 near milepost 81 in a 2000 Dodge pickup. David Lankarge, 37, of Killeen, TX, was driving southbound on State Highway 55 in a 2009 Volvo semi-truck pulling a trailer. Egurrola crossed left of the center line into the southbound lane of travel and struck the Volvo head on.

Egurrola succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Lankarge was transported via private vehicle to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Both occupants were wearing their seatbelts.

Notification to next of kin has been made.

State Highway 55 was blocked for approximately two and a half hours.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On October 16th, 2018, at 1:15 PM, the Idaho State Police responded to a fatal crash near Chase Road, west of Rathdrum, Idaho. Brady Robert McPhail, 20 years old, of Osburn, Idaho, was traveling eastbound in a white 2010 Buick Lucerne when he went into the westbound lane of travel. Lonnie Lee Mann, 55 years old, of Nebraska, was traveling westbound in a white 2010 Ford F-250 Super-Duty. McPhail's vehicle struck Mann's vehicle head-on. McPhail was pronounced deceased at the scene. Mann was transported to Kootenai Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. McPhail was not wearing a seatbelt. Mann was wearing his. The roadway was blocked for three and a half hours. Next of kin has been notified. The investigation is continuing.

On October 14th, 2018, at approximately 3:19 P.M., the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 141, east of Bliss.

Tom Aguilar, 27, of Nampa, was driving a silver 1999 Kia Sportage westbound on Interstate 84. Aguilar drove over the center line, overcorrected and the Kia rolled several times coming to rest on the roadway. Aguilar was wearing a seatbelt.

Aguilar was transported by air ambulance to Saint Alphonsus in Boise.

Westbound Interstate 84 was blocked for approximately one hour and thirty minutes.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On October 13th, 2018 at approximately 7:00 P.M. the Idaho State Police investigated a roll-over injury crash that occurred eastbound on US26 at mile marker 384.1, east of Swan Valley.

Angela Krueger, 41, of Alpine, Wyoming was driving eastbound on US26 in a 2000 Toyota Camry. Joel Handy, 62, of Rexburg, Idaho was also driving eastbound in a 2018 Volvo Semi when the 2000 Toyota Camry side swiped his vehicle, drove off the road and rolled. Krueger was ejected. Handy was wearing a seatbelt, however Krueger was not. Alcohol was involved.

Krueger was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls by ground ambulance.

The Idaho State Police was assisted by the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and Idaho Falls Fire Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On October 13, 2018 at approximately 2:34 a.m. the Idaho State Police responded to an injury crash southbound on US95 at milepost 420.2, south of Coeur d'Alene. A silver Subaru Legacy driven by Derek Gregory, 34, of Hayden, occupied by Amanda McCarthy, 35, of Post Falls, struck a moose. The vehicle came to rest on the southbound shoulder. The moose came to rest in the southbound lanes, where it was then struck by a white Dodge Intrepid driven by Walter Betts, 63, of Rathdrum. Neither occupant of the Subaru was wearing a seatbelt, both were transported via ambulance to Kootenai Health. Betts was uninjured. The southbound lanes were blocked for approximately 1.25 hours.

On October 12, 2018, at approximately 7:58 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle property damage crash and a secondary three-vehicle property damage crash on Interstate 15 near milepost 2.5, north of the Idaho and Utah border, near Malad, ID.

Corey D. Crompton, 61, of Orem, UT, was driving northbound in a 2016 Ford F150 pickup, pulling a trailer. Michael W. Thomason, 51, of Blackfoot, ID, was driving behind Crompton in a 2018 Kia Forte. Thomason struck Crompton's trailer, dislodging the trailer from the pickup. The trailer rolled and came to rest on its top in the left-hand travel lane. Thomason then drove off the right shoulder of the roadway.

Alcohol was involved in this crash.

A secondary crash occurred when another vehicle attempted to avoid the original crash.

Linda S. Davis, 35, of Rigby, ID, pulled off the right shoulder of the northbound lane in a 2016 Chevrolet Suburban. Damon W. Johanson, 43, of Lehi, UT, also pulled off the right shoulder of the northbound lane, stopping behind Davis in a 2006 Suzuki XL7. Davis and Johanson had both pulled over to call 9-1-1 and to render aid. Jeremy S. Covington, 23, of Leander, TX, was driving northbound in a 2013 Hyundai Sonata. Covington's vehicle made contact with Johanson's vehicle, pushing it into the rear of Davis' vehicle.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Then northbound lanes were blocked for approximately three hours and forty minutes.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Oneida County Sheriff's Office and the Idaho Transportation Department.

On October 11, 2018, at approximately 8:29 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash and a secondary three vehicle property damage crash on Interstate 15, northbound and southbound, near milepost 78, just south of Fort Hall.

Cory Ihler, 49, of Malad City, was driving northbound on Interstate 15 near milepost 78 in a 2002 GMC pickup pulling a utility trailer with a UTV on the trailer. Lucas Stokes, 27, of Pinegree, was also driving northbound on Interstate 15 behind Ihler in a 2011 Kia Optima. Stokes rear ended the utility trailer, and Ihler lost control of his pickup and trailer. The pickup and trailer exited the northbound lane of travel and entered the median, where both the pickup and trailer overturned. The pickup came to rest in the southbound left lane of Interstate 15.

As southbound traffic slowed for the pickup, Sherill Grimmett, 71, of Pocatello, was traveling southbound on Interstate 15 near milepost 78 in a 2012 Chevrolet Equinox. Grimmett rear ended a 2011 Toyota 4Runner, driven by Sterling Low, 68, of Alberta, Canada. The Toyota rear ended a 2011 Ford Taurus, driven by Kristy Mickelsen, 31, of Idaho Falls.

Ihler was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

The northbound lanes of travel were blocked for approximately 3 hours. One southbound lane was blocked for approximately 4 hours.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

The Idaho State Police was assisted by Fort Hall emergency services, Bannock County Sheriff?s Office, Bannock County Search and Rescue, and Chubbuck PD.

On October 10, 2018, at 6:54 am, Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash northbound on US93 at the junction of SH25, east of Jerome.

A 1990 Dodge pick-up, driven by a juvenile, was traveling southbound on US93. Quirino P. Escobedo, 66 of Jerome, was driving northbound on US93 in a 2013 Ford F150. The juvenile turned left onto SH25, failed to yield to oncoming traffic, and collided with Escobedo.

Escobedo was transported by ground ambulance to St. Lukes Magic Valley Regional in Twin Falls. The juvenile driver and a juvenile passenger were transported by personal vehicle to St. Lukes in Jerome. None of the occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The lanes were blocked for two hours while crews worked to remove the wreckage.

On September 27th, 2018 at approximately 1917 hours, Brent Carlson of Pocatello, was transporting 1,060 pounds of 93%-98% sulfuric acid. He noticed the tank holding the acid was leaking as he traveled near Fort Hall Mine Road and US 91 in Bannock County. Carlson continued his trip to 746 McKinley Avenue in Pocatello where he tried to stop the leak. Approximately 60 gallons of the acid leaked onto city and county roadways. Numerous Local and State agencies became involved in the mitigation and clean-up of the hazardous material.

The Idaho State Police assumed the role of the primary investigating agency in the incident. As a result of the investigation, Carlson was cited for allowing the release of the hazardous material in violation of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Standard 173.24(b)(1).

One Monday, October 8, 2018, at approximately 5:30 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of Ustick Road and 11th Ave. N, north of Nampa, in Canyon County.

Jacob J. Wright, 19, of Nampa, was driving a 2004 Hyundai Elantra southbound on 11 Ave N. Ignacio B. Ortiz, 57, of Nampa, was driving a 1999 Ford pickup pulling a trailer westbound on Ustick Road.

Wright failed to yield at a stop sign and collided with the pickup. Wright succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Next of kin have been notified. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

All lanes are open. The intersection was blocked for approximately three hours.

At around 3:30 PM on 10/8/2018 Idaho State Police received a report of a noninjury crash WB SH58 at mile post 2 near Worley, Idaho. Kenneth Nelsen, 80 year old male of Spokane Valley, WA, was driving a 1998 Volvo semi truck pulling a trailer load of potash fertlizer. Nelsen failed to maintain his lane, and the truck and trailer went off the road, spilling the load of fertilizer, and causing a small diesel spill. The crash caused SH58 to be shut down for several hours. Nelsen was wearing his seatbelt, and there were no injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

On Sunday, October 7, 2018, at 4:20 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash westbound on US-20 near milepost 332 in Rexburg, Idaho.

Heath B. Babcock, 38, of Pocatello, ID, was driving a 2014 Ram cargo van. Jeramy L. Nutt, 43, of Las Vegas, NV, was driving a 2013 Peterbuilt semi pulling a single trailer.

Babcock and Nutt were both traveling westbound on US-20 in the right lane. Babcock's vehicle struck the rear of Nutt's trailer. Babcock succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seat belts. Next of kin have been notified.

On Sunday, October 7, 2018, at 1:10 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash on US-30, west of Lava Hot Springs.

Jason Huffine, 22, of Pocatello, was driving a 2006 Harley Davidson westbound on US-30. Marea Betty, 61, of Lava Hot Springs, was pulling out from a private drive in a 2008 Ford Edge. The motorcycle struck the Ford.

Huffine succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

Betty was transported via ground ambulance to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.

Huffine was not wearing a helmet. Betty was wearing her seatbelt at the time of the crash. The lanes were blocked for approximately two and one half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Saturday, October 6, 2018 at approximately 8:22 p.m. Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury crash on Interstate 86 at milepost 53, about one mile east of the Arbon Valley exit in Power County.

Dean Rottini, 57, of Toole, Utah, was driving a 2004 Audi TT coupe west on Interstate 86 near milepost 53. Christian Saldana, 21, of American Falls, was driving a 2012 Peterbuilt potato hauler also west on Interstate 86. Rottini's vehicle collided with the rear end of the potato hauler. Both vehicles then came to a stop on the right shoulder of the road.

Rottini was not wearing a seat belt. He was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello. Saldana was wearing a seat belt and he was not transported.

On October 6th, 2018, at 06:21 am, the Idaho State Police responded to a semi truck crash on I90 at milepost 62, near Wallace, Idaho. Terry Rinkes, 56, of John Day, Oregon, was traveling eastbound in a 2017 International Tractor, pulling a utility trailer when he fell asleep behind the wheel and struck the center barrier. The impact displaced the center divider into the westbound lanes. Coral Blue, 23, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, was traveling westbound in a 2012 Chrysler 300 when she struck debris from the displaced divider. Nobody was injured and all involved were wearing seatbelts. As a result of the crash, the fuel tank on the semi-truck was punctured causing diesel fuel to spill into the roadway. The roadway is cleared at this time.

On October 5, 2018 at 11:57 pm a traffic stop was initiated at A Street and Almon in Moscow, ID on a Red 1996 Mitsubishi Galant driven by a 17 year old juvenile male. The driver failed to yield to the Idaho State Trooper for several blocks continuing to drive erratically and accelerate through a stop sign. The vehicle travelled through a parking lot, jumped the curb and sidewalk becoming airborne and landing on N Main Street, just south of D Street. The driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot. He attempted to jump a fence but failed and was rendered unconscious. When he regain consciousness he attempted to flee again but was tased four times. The juvenile was taken in to custody, treated at Gritman Medical Center, and then released to a responsible family member. The investigation is on-going and charges are pending.

On Friday, October 5, 2018, at 1:47 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury crash, westbound US26 at milepost 336 near Iona road, in Idaho Falls.

Patricia Arteaga, 18, of Rigby, was driving westbound on US26 at milepost 336 in a 2004 Nissan Altima. Jesse Jacobs, 31, of Idaho Falls, was driving eastbound on Iona road in a 2006 Chevy Silverado. Jacobs failed to yield the right of way to Arteaga, entered the intersection and struck Arteaga's vehicle on the front passenger side. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Arteaga's passenger, Brandie Geddes, 18, of Rigby was not wearing a seatbelt. Geddes was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

The lanes were blocked for 1 hour.

On Friday, October 5, 2018 at approximately 9:55 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash at the intersection of Conway Road and Purple Sage Road near Notus in Canyon County.

Marcos Serna Castillo, 61, of Pasco, WA, was southbound on Conway Road in a 1999 Freightliner semi pulling a single trailer. Colton Doramus, 19, of Caldwell, was westbound on Purple Sage Road in a 2007 Subaru Legacy. There was a juvenile passenger in his vehicle.

The Freightliner did not yield at a stop sign and collided with the Subaru in the intersection. The Freightliner went off the road and through a fence, and struck a parked vehicle which was pushed into other parked vehicles. The Freightliner also struck a power pole. The Subaru came to rest against the semi on the right shoulder.

The occupants of the Subaru were transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by ground ambulance. All of the occupants were wearing seatbelts. Power was out in the area for several hours. The road was blocked for approximately four and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.

On October 4, 2018, at 6:39 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a crash northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 117, in Idaho Falls. Robert Nii, age 57, of Shelley, was driving northbound in the left lane of Interstate 15 in a Ford F150 pickup, passing a vehicle in the right lane. As he attempted to pass, the other vehicle crossed the center line into his lane of travel. Nii swerved to avoid the other vehicle, lost control of his vehicle on the wet road, struck an ITD road sign, left the road, struck a fence, and struck three trailers on private property on Pioneer Rd. Nii was transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls. He was wearing a seat belt. The investigation is ongoing.

On October 3rd, 2018, at approximately 6:36 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash at the intersection of US26 and 45th E, 3 miles east of Idaho Falls.

Lisa Hess, 32, of Idaho Falls, was in a 2015 Toyota Camry driving northbound on N 45th E where she approached the stop sign at N 45th E and US26. James Newton, 39, of Rigby, was in a 2012 Ford F150 pickup driving westbound on US26 near milepost 339. Hess failed to yield at the stop sign and was struck by Newton's Ford. Hess' vehicle then collided head on with a power pole.

Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

One westbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately two hours. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.

OFFICERS RIDE THE RAILS TO CATCH MOTORISTS VIOLATING GRADE CROSSING LAWS

WHAT: "Officer on the Train" program designed to identify and contact unsafe motorists who attempt to beat the train and violate Idaho grade crossing laws.

WHEN: Thursday, Oct 4, 2018 7:30 in Meridian / 12:45-1:00 p.m.in Nampa - Press Briefing

WHERE: 3rd Street railroad crossing Meridian at 0730 / 1313 1st St North Nampa railroad depot at 1245

WHO: The "Officer on the Train" program is sponsored by Boise Valley Railroad, Union Pacific Railroad, Idaho State Police, Idaho Operation Lifesaver, as well as, Boise Police, Meridian Police and Nampa Police, as well as county agencies in those areas. The briefing will include: Travis Campbell state coordinator for Idaho Operation Lifesaver and officers from the agencies involved.

WHY: 2017 Idaho had 15 incidents and 4 resulted in fatal injuries. 5 incidents have happened in 2018 with one resulting in a fatal injury. An incident happens about every three hours between a train and a motorist/pedestrian. We would like to change motorists' behavior and ultimately save lives.

PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES: There is an opportunity for the media representatives to ride in the locomotive cab. If motorists violate the law by ignoring the signals, you may be able to obtain video of officers issuing citations to drivers. If your station wants a time slot riding in the cab of the locomotive, you must make arrangements ASAP. It will be first come first serve.

On Monday, October 1, 2018, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash on Old US-30 at Goodson, northwest of Middleton.

Margarita Jimenez Hernandez, 44, of Middleton, was driving northbound on Old US-30 in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am. James Leedom, 40, of Caldwell, was driving southbound in a 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee. A vehicle was stopped in the northbound lane waiting to turn left onto Goodson lane. Jimenez Hernandez drove left of center line around the vehicle and collided with Leedom's Jeep.

Leedom was transported via air ambulance, Jimenez Hernandez and her passengers, Catalina Ayala Arizmendi, 56, and Nacimento Jimenez, 67, were transported via ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Jimenez Hernandez' passenger Ana Ayala Andrade, 67, of Middleton, succumbed to her injuries at the scene.

Old US-30 was blocked at the intersection of Goodson for approximately three hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
