On Saturday, August 31, 2014 at 12:23 a.m., the Idaho State Police, along with the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, investigated an injury crash on St. Leon Road and U.S. Highway 20 near Idaho Falls.

Clinton B. Erickson, 16 years old of Rexburg, was driving east on U.S. Highway 20 in a 1997 Chevrolet Malibu. Erickson struck 40 feet of guardrail at milepost 311. The vehicle continued through the median and plummeted on to St. Leon Road, landing on its side. Erickson was wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Saturday, August 30, 2014, at 5:45 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle crash on Highway 74 near milepost 3, east of the US Highway 93 junction.

Glenn Nelson, 76, of Twin Falls, was driving westbound on Highway 74 in a 1990 Chevrolet pickup. The vehicle went across the lanes, off the left shoulder, and overturned.

Nelson succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Nelson's passenger, Michael Aguinaga, 51, of Twin Falls, was transported via ground ambulance to St. Lukes Magic Valley. Traffic was diverted for several hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Saturday, August 30, at 1:38 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash eastbound I-84 at milepost 95, in Mountain Home, Idaho.

Kelly Berry, 31, of Boise, was traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of I-84 at milepost 95 in a 2000 Saturn LS. Anthony D. Benavidez, 18, of Hazelton, was traveling eastbound at the same location in a 1984 International semi truck and was struck head on by Berry's vehicle.

Berry was pronounced deceased at the time of the crash. Benavidez was transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Berry was wearing a seatbelt; Benavidez was not.

Next of kin has been notified. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

INCIDENT NARRATIVE: Farnham was traveling northbound on Hill Street near 12th Street in Kamiah, when a young child ran out into the roadway from the parking lot of the football field. Farnham struck the child with her vehicle. During the investigation it was determined Farnham was under the influence of an intoxicating substance (not alcohol) and was arrested for driving under the influence. On Friday, August 29, 2014, at 10:30 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle crash on Interstate 86 at milepost 13.1 in Cassia County.

Jordan S. Clark, 16 years old of Boise, was driving east on Interstate 86 in a 2013 Honda Accord. Clark struck a moose, went off the right shoulder and rolled. His passengers, Norma Clark, 55 years old of Boise, and a female juvenile were also injured in the crash. The moose was killed on impact. The juvenile female was taken by air ambulance to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello. The other occupants were taken by ground ambulance to Cassia Regional in Burley. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Eastbound lanes of Interstate 86 were blocked for approximately two hours. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On August 29, 2014, at approximately 6:45 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a nine-vehicle crash at 100 N and Lewisville Highway in Jefferson county. Mark Tanner, 33, of Shelley, was westbound on 100 N in a 1996 GMC Yukon. Kristopher Barnett, 42, of Menan, was northbound on Lewisville Highway in a 1999 Chevrolet Tahoe. Tanner failed to stop at a stop sign, and struck Barnett's vehicle on the passenger side. Tanner's vehicle continued on, striking a 1987 Dodge Dakota parked at a residence, and came to rest after striking the residence. Barnett's vehicle also continued on, striking a 1994 Toyota Camry, a 1973 Olympic motor home, and three trailers parked at another residence. One of the trailers was pushed into a 1989 Honda Accord.

Tanner was not wearing his seatbelt and was transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ground ambulance. Barnett was wearing his seatbelt and was not transported. None of the other vehicles were occupied, and the residents of the home were not injured. The crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Friday, August 29, 2014, at 4:30 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash on Highway 55 at milepost 79, in front of the Banks store.

Rachel Roberts, 22, of Garden Valley, was in the parking lot of the Banks Store in a 1975 Chevrolet pickup. Roberts was attempting to turn left onto Highway 55 and collided with a 2014 Dodge Avenger driven by Jeff Tomlinson, 43, of Chino Valley, Arizona.

Tomlinson was transported via ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Tomlinson's passenger, Marie Wilson, 60, of Keams Canyon, Arizona, was transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts. The road was reduced to one lane for approximately two and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Nicholes Partin, 60, of Midvale, was driving southbound on Highway 95 in a 1998 Toyota Camry. Todd Bratcher, 41, of Payette, in a 2011 Chevrolet Cruz, failed to yield at a stop sign and pulled onto Highway 95, striking the Toyota.

Partin and his passenger, Joyce Partin, 60, of Midvale, were transported via ground ambulance to St. Lukes Physicians Care Center in Fruitland. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Thursday, August 28, 2014 at 3:09 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on State Highway 55 near the Horseshoe Bend Hill Summit in Boise County.

Raunie R. Aasland, 71 years old of Garden Valley, was driving north on State Highway 55 in a 2012 Toyota Sienna Van. Aasland drove off the right shoulder at milepost 57 and rolled. She was transported by air to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. She was wearing a seatbelt.

State Highway 55 had blockage for approximately one and half hours. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Utah Man and Idaho Falls Woman Plead Guilty to Possession of a Stolen Firearm in U.S. District Court

POCATELLO – Gustavo Alfaro-Garcia, 36, of Salt lake City, Utah, and Mirella Ileana Garcia, 27, of Idaho Falls, Idaho, pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of a stolen firearm, U.S. Attorney Wendy J. Olson announced. Co-defendant, Maria Garcia, 26, of Salt Lake City, pleaded guilty to the same charge on August 13, 2014.

According to the plea agreements, on June 18, 2013, the individuals were stopped by the Idaho State Police while traveling southbound on Interstate 15, in Oneida County, Idaho. Inside the vehicle officers found numerous stolen firearms including a Smith and Wesson .357 caliber revolver, which had been stolen from a residence in Arimo, Idaho. Earlier that day, a witness had seen the individuals enter the residence where the gun was stolen.

The crime is punishable by up to ten years in prison, a maximum fine of $250,000, and three years of supervised release.

Sentencing is set for November 19, 2014, before Chief U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill at the federal courthouse in Pocatello. Maria Garcia’s sentencing is set for October 22, 2014, also before Judge Winmill.

The case was the result of an investigation by the Idaho State Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives.

Paul Hill, 73, of Pelham, Alabama, was driving his 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he failed to negotiate a curve. The motorcycle hit a jersey barrier, hit the guardrail, and came to rest in the lane of travel. Hill was not wearing a helmet.

Hill was transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The lanes were blocked for approximately three and a half hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 7:30 am, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle semi crash on Interstate 15, north of Malad, ID. Edwina Hulse, 35 from Chubbuck, ID, was driving a 2007 Volvo tractor and trailer south on I15 at mile marker 18, when the semi left the roadway. It swerved across the southbound lanes and into the median. It then went through the median and across the northbound lanes. After hitting the guardrail, the semi came to rest facing south on the northbound side, partially blocking the right lane. The right lane was blocked for approximately 5 hours. Hulse was transported by ground ambulance to Oneida County Hospital. It is unknown if Hulse was wearing a seatbelt. ISP was assisted by Oneida County Sheriff's Office and Oneida Fire and EMS. The crash is still under investigation.

On Saturday, August 23, 2014, at 1:02 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a property damage crash on Interstate 84 in Gooding County. Mario R. Bajeca-Celaya, 24 years from Portland,Oregon, was driving west on Interstate 84 in a 2001 Ford Mustang. Bajeca-Celaya rear-ended a semi driven by Jose M. Salazar, 26 years of San Diego, California. Salazar pulled over to the right shoulder at milepost 160.5. The Ford Mustang went into the median.

Bajeca-Celaya attempted to leave the scene by heading east on Interstate 84, but he lost control again and went off the right shoulder into a canal. Salazar was wearing a seatbelt, it is unknown if Bajeca-Celaya was wearing one. Bajeca-Celaya was taken into custody and charged with DUI, Driving without Privileges, and Leaving the Scene of a Crash. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

Two semi's collided on eastbound I-90 at the top of 4th of July pass approximately mile post 28. Mocanu, who was hauling empty aircraft fuel tanks, attempted to pass another semi hauling asphalt driven by Madsen. Mocanu accelerated but was unable to pass due to traffic in the left lane and was unable to slow down before rear ending the asphalt truck in front of him. No injuries were reported. The right lane of eastbound I90 was completely blocked and the left lane had partial blockage for approximately two hours.

On August 21, 2014, at 9:46 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 30, near Caldwell.
James Zellner, 67, of Nampa was driving westbound in a 1993 Ford Tempo. Jeffrey Cumpton, 53, of Spokane, WA was driving westbound in a 1995 Kenworth Semi.

Zellner was in the right lane slowing for traffic. Cumpton was behind Zellner and unable to stop in time. Cumpton drove on to the right shoulder striking Zellner's vehicle. Zellner's vehicle was pushed in to the median, and Cumptons vehicle rolled on the shoulder.

Both drivers were transported by ground ambulance to St Alphonsus Nampa Health Plaza.
Seatbelts were worn by both drivers. Lanes were blocked for approximately 3 hours.

7:00 p..m., Idaho State Police investigated a fatal incident involving a commercial vehicle in Chubbuck.
Devere Lowry, 75, of Pocatello, was releasing the brakes on a trailer being pulled by a 1976 dump truck, at the intersection of Dell rd. and Cole st. As he did so, he was positioned at the rear of the dump truck. When the brakes were released on the trailer, the brakes on the dump truck had not been set, and the vehicle rolled backward over Lowry, trapping him between the duals on the driver's side of the truck.

He was pronounced deceased on the scene.
Notifications have been made to the next of kin.
This incident is being investigated by Idaho State Police.

On August 14, 2014, at 9:35 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a three vehicle crash on Interstate 84 at milepost 192, near the Hazelton exit.

Francisco Gil-Gil, 36, of Paul, was driving eastbound in a 2013 Volvo semi pulling an empty milk tanker. Gil-Gil's vehicle clipped a 2007 GMC pickup pulling a horse trailer that was slowing for traffic, driven by Alberto Zazueta, 45, of Jerome. The pickup jack-knifed, the trailer separated, and collided with a 2014 Freightliner pulling two trailers driven by Robert Watts, 53, of Tooele, Utah, that was stopped in eastbound traffic due to a detour in place from an earlier crash.

It is unknown at this time if occupants were wearing seatbelts. The road was reduced to one lane for approximately five hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at approximately 8:19 p.m., a crash involving two tractor-trailers occurred on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 at milepost 196, east of Hazelton. A 2013 Freightliner pulling a bulk cargo tanker, driven by Matthew Eveland, 48 of Pocatello, was heading eastbound when his trailer sustained a blown tire. Eveland attempted to continue traveling eastbound when his truck was struck from behind by a 2013 Freightliner, hauling onions, driven by Christopher Torrance, 48 of Ontario, Oregon. The crash caused the onion truck cab to catch fire. The bulk tanker went off the road and rolled onto its side. The tanker was carrying a hazardous chemical, which resulted in the complete blockage of the eastbound lanes as crews responded to the scene to clean up the chemicals. Torrance was transported via air ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley for injuries sustained in the crash.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 have been blocked for approximately 5 hours, and will remain blocked while the scene is being cleared.

On Thursday, August 14, 2014, at 4:03 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a non- injury commercial vehicle crash on I-86 near the Bannock Peak Truck Stop. Darren J. Giesbrecht, 33 years of age of Pocatello, was driving west on I-86 in a 2004 Kenworth truck hauling farm waste. The truck left the roadway on the right shoulder, and struck the guardrail near milepost 52. The semi overturned, completely blocking both westbound lanes of I-86. Giesbrecht was wearing a seatbelt.

The right lane of westbound I-86 has been cleared for travel since 7 a.m. Traffic is able to move through the area. However, clean up is still ongoing. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Wednesday August 13, 2013 at 8:55pm, Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash involving an Ada County Deputy on SH44 at Seneca Springs, east of Star.

Holden Falk, 18 of Emmett, was traveling eastbound on SH44 in a 2001 Ford Explorer. Falk's vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes colliding with a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria being driven by Ada County Deputy Fratusco.

Falk was not wearing his seatbelt. Both Falk and Deputy Fratusco were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Eagle. The intersection was completely blocked for about two hours. All lanes are open.

On Wednesday, August 13, 2014, at approximately 5:02 p.m., a two-vehicle fatality crash occurred on US20 at milepost 170, west of Timmerman Hill. A 2004 Toyota 4-Runner, driven by Mary McBrier, 64 of Salt Lake City, Utah, was headed eastbound on US20, when her vehicle crossed over the center line. McBrier's vehicle struck a 2004 Honda Accord, headed westbound, driven by Todd Combs, 39 of Eagle. Combs was pronounced deceased at the scene, McBrier was transported to St Luke's Wood River, where she succumbed to her injuries. Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and next of kin have been notified.

On August 13, 2014, at 11:08 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle injury crash on State Highway 55 at milepost 58, south of Horseshoe Bend.

Clinton Johnson, 63, of Boise, was driving northbound in a 2007 Nissan Altima. Erin Kueneman, 35, of Star, was southbound in a 1991 Acura Legend.

Johnson was negotiating a right curve in the road, lost control of the vehicle and crossed into the northbound lanes, striking Kueneman's vehicle.

Johnson and his passenger Kathryn Paris, 46, of Boise, were transported via ground ambulance to St. Lukes in Boise. Kueneman was transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The roads were at least partially blocked for more than four hours while crews worked to clear the scene. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On Sunday, August 10, 2014 at 1:10 p.m., Idaho State police investigated a one-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 15 near milepost 77, three miles south of the Fort Hall exit.

Charice Robinson, age 40, of Pocatello, was driving a 2004 Honda Pilot south on Interstate 15 when she went off the left shoulder of the road. Robinson then lost control of the vehicle and it overturned. Robinson was transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

The crash remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On August 7, 2014, at 10:54 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 8, south of New Plymouth. Auriette Larbi, 33, of Grandview, Washington, was eastbound in a Toyota Camry. Edward Bear, 46, of Payette, was driving westbound in a Ford Econovan. While driving through the two-way, two-lane construction zone, Larbi lost control of her vehicle and crashed head-on into Bear's van. The van continued into the median and rolled. The Camry was then hit by a westbound Volvo semi driven by Mandy Brown, 56, of Ridgefield, Washington.

Larbi and her two juvenile passengers were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's in Fruitland. All of the adult vehicle occupants were wearing seatbelts. Both juveniles were properly restrained in child safety seats. Alcohol is not involved in the crash. Both east and westbound traffic was blocked for two and half hours while crews worked to clear the crash scene.

On Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at approximately 3:05 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on State Highway 50 near milepost 2, east of Kimberly.

Liana L. Shell, 29, of Kimberly, ID, was turning westbound onto State Highway 50 from 3800 North in a 2006 Chevy C1500. Yucai Shi, 41, of Lafayette, LA was traveling eastbound on State Highway 50 in a 2008 Volkswagen Passat, with his two passengers, Yan Yan Yuan, 37 of Louisiana, and their child. Shell's vehicle was struck by Shi's vehicle.

Yuan and her child were transported by ground ambulance to Saint Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Shell and her two juvenile passengers were wearing their seatbelts. Shi was wearing his seatbelt. Yuan and her child were not wearing their seatbelts.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

On August 5, 2014, at approximately 6:35 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle fatality crash on Highway 34 near milepost 18, just north of Preston.

Randy Hadley Jr., 37, of Preston, was driving northbound in a 2003 GMC Envoy when he failed to negotiate a curve. The vehicle went down an embankment, overturned, and came to rest in a field. Hadley was ejected and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

The crash is believed to have occurred sometime between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m. Hadley was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police with assistance at the scene by Preston City Police Department, the Franklin County Sheriff's Office, and the Franklin County Fire Department.

On Monday, August 4, 2014 just before 1:00 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle rollover crash on northbound Interstate 15 at milepost 80 near Fort Hall. Bertrand DeSilva, 52 of Yorba Linda, California, was driving north on Interstate 15 in a 2007 Winnebago when he lost control of the vehicle and overturned on the roadway.

Bertrand and his three passengers, Mary DeSilva, age 33, Tessila DeSilva, age 6, and Naomi DeSilva, age 4, were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello.

Both lanes of northbound Interstate 15 were blocked for 90 minutes while crews worked to clear the crash scene. Bertrand was cited for failing to maintain his lane of travel.

On Sunday, August 3, 2014, at approximately 2:21 p.m., Idaho State police investigated a vehicle fire on SH55 near milepost 68, north of Horseshoe Bend.

Boone Rhinehart, 19, of Boise, was southbound in a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee pulling a trailer with camping supplies. Rhinehart noticed the vehicle start smoking and pulled off the roadway. Rhinehart's vehicle and trailer became engulfed and burnt the grass around the vehicle.

Lanes were partially blocked for approximately 2 hours.

**Update**

On 8/3/2014 Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle, fatal injury crash on I15 at milepost 114. At 08:52, Roger Gibson, age 66, of Grass Valley, California, was travelling south on I 15 at milepost 114, on a Harley Davidson motorcycle. Gibson drove off the left shoulder, came back onto the roadway, then over-corrected. The motorcycle then rolled and struck the guardrail. Gibson was pronounced deceased on scene. It is not known whether or not Gibson was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Notifications have been made to next of kin.

On August 3, 2014, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash at 1800 East 3400 South in Gooding County, Idaho.

Christopher T. Weaver, 43, of Twin Falls, ID., was driving north on 1800 East in a 2014 Peterbilt tractor pulling a 2012 Walker trailer. David H. Fuentes, 21, of Wendell, ID., was driving east on 3400 South in a 2002 Chevrolet Silverado pickup. Passengers in Fuentes' vehicle were Jose D. Hernandez, 18, and Rosa Fuentes-Guevara, 54, both of Wendell, ID. Weaver failed to stop at the stop sign at the intersection of 1800 East and 3400 South, and struck Fuentes' vehicle.

Weaver was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, ID.

David Fuentes and Hernandez were transported by ground ambulance to North Canyon Medical Center in Gooding, ID.

Fuentes-Guevara was transported by air ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls, ID., where she succumbed to her injuries.

It appears that no seatbelts were worn at the time of the crash. The crash investigation is continuing.

The Idaho Transportation Department has been working very hard to remove downed trees from the roadways caused by last night's storm. However, there is still a lot of debris in the emergency lanes and on the shoulders of US95 and other roadways. Use caution while driving.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014 at approximately 5:30 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle injury crash eastbound I84 at milepost 208, near Burley. Robert Averett, 25 of Casper, WY was traveling eastbound in a 1998 Saturn. Averett lost control and overcorrected in the median and rolled onto the roadway, across both lanes and landed on its top off the right shoulder into the barrow pit. Averett had rolled in front of Joseph Greener,18 of Burley, driving a 1999 Volvo. Greener left the roadway on the right shoulder to avoid a collision with Averett.

Both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. Averett's passenger, Jessica Westby, 19 of Rock Springs, WY was not wearing her seatbelt and was ejected at the time of the crash. Westby was taken by ground ambulance to the Cassia Regional Medical Center and then later lifeflighted to Portneuf Regional Medical Center in Pocatello.
Lanes of travel were blocked for approximately 30 minutes for the investigation of the crash.

Adam Frandsen, 39, of Idaho Falls, ID, was driving west on I86 in a 1992 Ford F15 pick-up that was hauling a camp trailer. Frandsen lost control of the camp trailer. The truck and trailer overturned and came to rest just to the west of exit 52, on I86.

The interstate is currently blocked and traffic is being detoured off at exit 52. Motorists are encouraged to use caution in this area.

On Saturday, August 2, 2014, at approximately 1:30 P.M., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle property damage crash on SH37 near milepost 67, in Power County.

Dee Jones, 54, of Burley, ID, was driving west on Cold Creek Road in a 2001 Ford F250 pick-up that was hauling a 2008 Domani trailer. Jones stopped at the intersection of Cold Creek road and SH37. Jones attempted to turn north on SH37, but failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

Jose Ruiz-Villa, 66, of American Falls, ID, was driving north on SH37 in a 2006 Kenworth that was hauling grain. Ruiz-Villa struck the driver's side of Jones' Ford F250. The Ford and trailer went off the roadway and came to rest in a nearby ditch.

The northbound lane of travel was blocked for approximately 3.5 hours.

Both occupants were wearing seatbelts.

The crash remains under investigation.

On Friday, August 01, 2014, at 4:00 p.m., the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on Interstate 86 near milepost 27.

Maria Jensen, 62, of Nampa, was driving eastbound in a 2001 Pontiac Aztec. Maria drifted off the left side of the roadway, over-corrected, rolled twice, and came to rest on the right shoulder.

Maria and her 3 passengers were all wearing seatbelts, and were transported by ground ambulance to Harms Memorial in American Falls.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
