On October 13, 2010 just after 9:00 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle fatality crash on Idaho Highway 32 at milepost 14.8, approximately 15 miles southeast of Ashton.
Joel Herrera, age 35 of Ashton, was traveling north on Highway 32 in a 2007 Chevrolet pickup when he failed to negotiate a curve in the road, causing his vehicle to leave the right side of the road. The vehicle rolled and came to rest on its driver's side. Herrera was wearing a seatbelt, but died at the scene of injuries he sustained in the crash.
The crash is under still under investigation by Cpl. Coverely. He was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Murdock, Fremont County Sheriff's deputies, Ashton Ambulance EMS personnel, and the North Fremont Fire Department.
