On October 3, 2010 at 9:53 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle injury crash eastbound on I84 at 163, near Jerome.

Metha L. Ayers, 78 from Battle Ground, WA, was traveling eastbound on I84 in a 2001 Ford Explorer when for unknown reasons she drove off the road. Ayers overcorrected causing the vehicle to roll several times coming to rest on the passenger side in the fast lane of travel. Ayers was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise and is in critical condition. Ayers had two passengers in the car, James C. Ayers, 81 and Beverly Ayers, 51. Both James and Beverly were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls where they were treated and released.

All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Eastbound traffic was blocked for about 45 minutes where motorists were then able to use the shoulder to get around the crash site.

This crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police. Trooper Pohanaka was assisted at the scene by Trooper Kilton and BLM Rangers, Jerome County Deputies, Paramedics, and Fire Department, Wendell PD and Jerome PD.
