Earlier tonight, at approximately 6:56 PM on October 4th, 2010, the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle fatality crash at the intersection of Hitt Road and First Street in Idaho Falls. Patrick Stephens, age 56 of Idaho Falls, was northbound on Hitt Rd. driving a motorcycle. Martin Newman, age 59 and also of Idaho Falls, was southbound driving a pickup truck. As Newman turned to travel on first street, the two vehicles collided in the intersection. Newman was transported to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center where he was treated and released. Stephens, who was not wearing a helmet, succumbed to injuries received at the scene of the crash. The investigation is still ongoing by Trooper Stevens of the Idaho State Police. He was assisted at the scene by Cpl. Murdock and Sgt. Elverud, as well as Idaho Falls Police officers and Bonneville County Paramedics.
