At a little after 8pm on Sunday, September 26, 2010 Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on US93 near mile post 8 in Twin Falls County. Homero Garibay-Alvarez, age 36, of Ontario, Oregon was headed southbound on US93 when he lost control of his 2001 Dodge Dakota pickup. His vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2001 Volkswagon GTI driven by Kevin L. Leonard, age 27, and his passenger Samantha K. Leonard, age 23, both from Mountain Home A.F.B, who were headed northbound. After the impact, Leonard's vehicle went off the left side of the road and over-turned. Garibay-Alvarez's vehicle went off the east side of the road and rolled. Occupants from both vehicles had to be extricated. Samantha is in critical condition and was sent via Summit Air Ambulance to Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls and then later to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Garibay-Alvarez is being treated at Magic Valley Regional Medical Center. Kevin Leonard was treated and released. All subjects were wearing seatbelts and air bags were deployed in the Leonard's vehicle. US93 was closed for approximately 30 minutes so that the air ambulance could land. No charges have been filed yet pending the outcome of the investigation.

This crash is under investigation by Corporal Walker and assisted by Idaho State Police Trooper Debie, Idaho Department of Transportation and deputies from Twin Falls County and Elko County, Nevada.
