The Idaho State Police has completed its investigation into the commercial vehicle fuel tanker crash on September 29th, on US-12@136, that spilled about 7500 gallons of diesel into the hillside of the road. The driver was identified as Brent A. Weber of Missoula, MT. The commercial vehicle is owned by Keller Transport out of Billings, MT. Weber was travelling westbound and failed to negotiate the curve causing the 2005 Peterbuilt and trailers to drive into the north side (hillside) borrow pit. Rocks on the hillside ruptured the trailer causing the spill. Weber was cited for inattentive driving. The Idaho State Police is acting as the on-scene Incident Commander for the fuel spill. As of 8:10 a.m. this date, fuel has not appeared in the river and is apparently pooling under the road. Precautions have been taken to contain the fuel should it reach the river. Exploration will occur to locate the fuel. Captain Lonnie Richardson is acting as the PIO for the State Police and can be reached at 208-799-5150.
