On Thursday, May 21, 2015, at 7:27 a.m., the Canyon County Sheriff's Office and the Idaho State Police investigated a three-vehicle, property damage crash on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost 35, near the Northside Boulevard Exit in Nampa.

Gustavo Morales-Perez, 44, of Ontario, Oregon, was driving a 1997 Peterbilt tractor with an agricultural trailer eastbound on Interstate 84 in in the left lane of travel. Traffic started to slow, and Morales-Perez was unable to stop for traffic in front of him. Morales-Perez rear-ended a 2015 GMC Yukon, driven by Blake A. Higley,30, of Boise. The GMC Yukon was pushed into a 2006 Nissan Titan pickup, driven by Clifford L. Hahlbeck 44, of Marsing. All occupants were wearing seatbelts and no injuries were reported. Morales-Perez was cited for following too close and the tractor-trailer was placed out of service for equipment violations. Interstate 84 had partial blockage for approximately thirty minutes.
