On May 31, 2015, at approximately 9:04am, the Idaho State Police investigated a single motorcycle crash on US 30 at milepost 377, near Fish Creek Summit. Thomas Latta, 59, from Rock Springs, WY, was eastbound on US30, on a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle. Thomas attempted to steer around a deer in the road and lost control of the motorcycle and was ejected. His passenger, Niki Latta, 61, also from Rock Springs, WY, was also ejected. She died from her injuries at the scene. Thomas was transported to Caribou Memorial Hospital in Soda Springs by ground ambulance. Both Thomas and Niki were wearing helmets. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.

At this time, the Idaho State Police, is investigating a single motorcycle crash on US 30 at mile marker 377, near the top of Fish Creek Summit, in Caribou County. The eastbound lane is blocked for emergency vehicles. The westbound lane is open. It is advised to avoid the area if possible. More information will be provided when it becomes available.
