***Update***

On Friday May 29, 2015 at approximately 9:06 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a commercial vehicle fire eastbound Interstate 86 at milepost 58, near Simplot. Ardis Stagner, age 30, of Billing, MT, was traveling east in a commercial vehicle, pulling a trailer, when the vehicle had a mechanical malfunction, and the trailer tires caught on fire. Stagner attempted to extinguish the fire while waiting for emergency crews to arrive.

The eastbound right lane of travel is still blocked while crews work to clear the scene. Idaho State Police was assisted by Chubbuck Fire Department, Fort Hall Fire Department, and Fort Hall Police Department. No injuries were reported from the commercial vehicle fire. The incident is under investigation by Idaho State Police.

The left eastbound lane is now open. However motorists are still encouraged to avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

Idaho State Police is currently investigating a vehicle fire eastbound Interstate 86 near milepost 58, near Simplot. Both eastbound lanes are currently blocked while emergency vehicles work to clear the scene. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area and use an alternate route of travel.
