Injury Crash on SH16 South of Emmett

On May 3, 2015, at 1:10 am, Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash southbound on SH16 at mile marker 111, south of Emmett.

Rosa I. Arechiga, 21, of Emmett, was traveling southbound on SH16 in a 1996 Toyota Camry. Arechiga crossed over the center line hitting a guardrail on the northbound side of the road. Her vehicle came to rest party in the lane of travel. Darlene G. O'Neal, 53, of Emmett was traveling northbound on SH16 in a 2004 Chevrolet Astro Van and struck Arechiga's vehicle.

Arechiga and O'Neal were both transported by ground ambulance to Walter Knox Memorial Hospital. O'Neal was wearing her seatbelt. It is unknown if Arechiga was wearing her seatbelt. Alcohol was involved.

Both lanes of SH16 were blocked for about an hour while crews worked to remove the wreckage.

This crash is still under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
