On June 4, 2017, approximately 4:29 p.m., an Idaho State Police Trooper stopped a Chevrolet pickup near the intersection of Clearwater Avenue and 29th Street in Lewiston for a traffic violation. The driver, Charles A. Rogers, age 46, of Moscow, was detained at the direction of his parole officer. A search of the vehicle revealed a large quantity of methamphetamine and heroin. Rogers was subsequently arrested for trafficking in methamphetamine (400 grams or more) and trafficking in heroin (7 to 28 grams). An additional search of Rogers was conducted at the Nez Perce County Detention Center, which resulted in the additional felony charges of introduction of major contraband into a correctional facility and possession of a controlled substance (methadone). The Lewiston Police Department, Quad Cities Drug Task Force, and Idaho Probation and Parole assisted with the investigation.
