On Sunday, July 21, 2019, at 11:46 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle injury crash on SH-55 (Karcher Rd), just west of Midway Rd. near Nampa.

Richard Kiyabu, 45, of Caldwell, was driving a 2017 Chevrolet Colorado, east on SH-55 (Karcher Rd). Kiyabu was slowing down for traffic when he was rear-ended by a 2008 BMW 280i, driven by Tyler Ozmun, 20, of Eureka, California. The Chevrolet Colorado spun and struck a power pole and came to rest on the roadway.

Ozmun and a juvenile passenger from Kiyabu's vehicle was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Medical Center in Nampa. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.

SH-55 (Karcher Rd)is blocked for an unknown amount of time between Lake Ave and Midway Rd while the power pole is being replaced by Idaho Power.

This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
