***Final Update***

On Thursday, December 10, 2015, at 2:56 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a three-vehicle injury crash on eastbound Interstate 84 at milepost 183, near Eden.

A 2016 Peterbilt hauling onions was disabled on the right shoulder. A tow truck was parked in front of the Peterbilt, getting ready to attach onto the tow truck. The driver of the semi, David Maynard, 49, of Littleton, Colorado, was sitting in the driver's seat, wearing his seatbelt. The tow truck driver, Robert Elliott, 31, of Wendell, was standing between the tire and fender well of the Peterbilt.

Sergio Chavez, 32, of Jerome, was driving a 2002 Kenworth, eastbound. He failed to maintain his lanes, and drove onto the right shoulder, striking the Peterbilt first and then the tow truck. Chavez lost control and crossed both eastbound lanes of travel into the median. The Kenworth came to a stop partially blocking the westbound left lane of Interstate 84. Chavez was wearing a seatbelt. He was transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls.

Both westbound and eastbound lanes experienced blockage. The westbound lanes were blocked for approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. The right lane on the eastbound side is still blocked at this time. This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
