On Thursday, May 3, 2018, at 7:30 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash westbound on SH52 near Boise Avenue in Emmett.

Pepper J. Yanzuk, 39 of Emmett, was driving a 2014 Emmet School District school bus loaded with 23 children. The bus was stopped westbound on SH52 near the intersection, with the stop sign and lights activated, picking up additional children. Gavin E. Watson, 30 of Twin Falls, was stopped behind the bus in a 2005 Honda Accord. A juvenile was driving westbound on SH52 in a 2007 Honda Accord failed to yield and struck the rear of Watson's vehicle. Watson's vehicle was pushed into the rear of the school bus.

The juvenile driver was transported by ground ambulance to Valor Health in Emmett. None of the children on the bus or at the bus stop were injured. Yanzuk and Watson were not transported and all drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The westbound lane of SH52 was blocked for approximately one hour and traffic was diverted.
