On Sunday, May 6, 2018, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle, injury crash, on Sand Hollow Road just south of State Highway 72, near New Plymouth.

Diego Vargas, 20, of New Plymouth, was driving northbound on Sand Hollow Rd in a 1993 Nissan Pathfinder. Vargas went off the right shoulder, came back onto the roadway, and crashed into an embankment off the left shoulder, where the vehicle rolled.

Vargas was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. He was not wearing a seatbelt.
