Addendum:
The investigation regarding the pedestrian fatality near mile post 282 on US 95 has been concluded. After investigating the scene and interviewing all drivers involved no charges will be filed as the involved drivers were not able to avoid the collision with the victim. Based on witness statements the victim was stationary on the side of the road and then made an intentional move into the lane of travel. Neither vehicle involved had time to avoid the collision.

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office has released the following statement;

The Lewis County Sheriff's Office was informed that Mr. Cody did not return to his residence at 1145 a.m. A search was mobilizing and additional information was being sought when we received notification of the crash. At that time it was turned over to the Idaho State Police for investigation.





On May 20th, 2018, at approximately 12:35 p.m. the Idaho State Police investigated a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash. Shawn J. Cody, 47 year old male of Winchester, ID, was walking on the northbound shoulder of US Highway 95 near mile post 280, just north of Winchester, Idaho. Cody entered the roadway and was struck by a gold 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by Jimmie R. Eckwortzel, 70 years old male, of Lucile, ID. Cody was pronounced deceased at the scene. The incident is still under investigation, next of kin has been notified.
