On September 6, 2021, at approximately 11:00 A.M., Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle fatality crash on US26 at milepost 369, just west of Swan Valley.

Marie J. Walker, 21, of Iona, was driving eastbound on US26 in a 2001 Chevrolet Metro. Walker failed to negotiate a curve and went off the left shoulder. The vehicle went down an embankment, rolled and came to rest on the passenger side. Walker was ejected and succumbed to her injuries on scene. Walker was not wearing a seatbelt.

The eastbound lanes were blocked for approximately four hours. Idaho State Police was assisted by Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Swan Valley Fire and EMS, Idaho Falls EMS, Idaho Falls Police Department, and Air Idaho.

Next of kin has been notified.
