On September 13th, 2021, at approximately 4:38 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash approximately 10-miles east of Orofino, Idaho. Tara R. Russum, 43, of Orofino, Idaho, was driving westbound US12 near milepost 54 in a silver 2004 Chevrolet Impala, when her vehicle crossed over the center line striking the eastbound embankment, overturning and coming to rest on its top in the middle of the highway. Timothy A. Smith-Hill, 66, of Hamilton, Montana, was traveling westbound US12, in a silver 2011 Chevrolet Silverado, behind a semi-truck that was slowing due to the crash, when Smith-Hill attempted to pass the semi-truck and struck Russum's vehicle in the roadway. Smith-Hill was not injured and Russum was transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino, Idaho for her injuries. The investigation continues.
