On Wednesday, August 18, 2010, Trooper Tyler Barrett was working speed enforcement in the I84 construction zone near the I84 and I86 split. Trooper Barrett stopped a 2007 Jeep Liberty westbound on I84 at milepost 221 driven by Christine Braithwaite, 40, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado for going 87 miles per hour in the posted 65 mile per hour work zone. During the course of the stop, Trooper Barrett detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After a subsequent search, Trooper Barrett located numerous pipes and other paraphernalia as well as 1/4 pound of raw marijuana. Christine and her passenger Michael Braithwaite, 46, of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, were taken to the Cassia County Jail in Burley, where they are being charged with felony possession of a controlled substance and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
