On Thursday, August 5, 2010, at approximately 10:03 AM, the Idaho State Police investigated a one vehicle injury crash northbound on Interstate 15 at milepost 107 between Blackfoot and Idaho Falls. David Pena, 39, of Lewisville, and his passenger, Terry Cook, 33, of Shelley, were traveling north on Interstate 15 in a 1985 GMC truck for work. The truck was hauling tack oil used on the roadways. The truck blew the rear driver side tire on the outside set of tires. Pena tried to pull the vehicle to the right shoulder and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle swerved across both lanes of travel and overturned on the left shoulder. Most of the oil in the truck was leaked onto the shoulder of the road. Both Pena and Cook were not wearing their seat belts. Pena was partially ejected during the crash. Both Pena and Cook were transported to the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. The oil spill was cleaned up by the truck's owner, TMC Contractors, of Idaho Falls.
