On Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at approximately 7:05 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a one-vehicle rollover crash northbound on State Highway 75 at milepost 90, near the Shoshone Ice Caves. Guillermo Ruiz-Juarez, age 25 of Hailey, was traveling northbound on State Highway 75 in a 2010 Nissan Altima when for unknown reasons his vehicle left the road on the west side of the highway, rolled, and came to rest on its side in the lava field just south of the Shoshone Ice Caves. Several witnesses report that they observed this vehicle driving at erratic speeds and passing other motorists just prior to the vehicle crashing.

Ruiz-Juarez was not wearing a seatbelt and suffered serious injuries. He was air-lifted to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

The highway was blocked for approximately thirty minutes by the air ambulance and other emergency vehicles. The crash is still under investigation by Trooper Barrett who was assisted at the scene by Lincoln County Deputies and EMS personnel.
