On Thursday, July 29, 2010 at approximately 8:42 am the Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 38, Garrity Road.

Tony Giambo, 72, of Idaho City was driving east on Interstate 84 when, for reasons still being investigated, he left the road on the left side and struck the traffic impact attenuators which caused him to roll the 2000 Chevy Astro Van and land in the middle of the eastbound lanes. His van was struck from behind by a 2006 Suzuki Forester driven by Melissa Cowan, 39, of Boise.

Giambo was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center with minor injuries. Giambo was not wearing his seatbelt. Cowan had no injuries and was wearing her seatbelt. The eastbound lanes at Garrity were closed for approximately an hour and a half.

Alcohol was not a factor in this crash which remains under investigation by Trooper Vance who was assisted at the scene by Corporal Thompson, Trooper Lake, Corporal Szeles, Trooper Bake, Incident Response as well as Officers and Fire personnel from Nampa and EMS personnel from Canyon County.
