On Monday, July 12, 2010, at 4:00 p.m., Idaho State Police responded to a vehicle fire westbound on Interstate 84 near the Garrity exit. Donald Ettinger, 58 of Troy Michigan, was in a 1990 Ford pickup towing a boat and a jet ski. For unknown reasons, a fire started in the back of the truck. Ettinger pulled over and exited the vehicle. Shortly after, the truck and boat trailer were fully engulfed in flames. Ettinger was not injured in the fire. It took approximately one hour and forty five minutes until all lanes of travel were open. Cause of the fire is under investigation by the Nampa Fire Department.
