At approximately 9:12 last night, October 24th, 2009, an injury crash occurred westbound on I84 at milepost 28.5 near the Franklin Rd. interchange in Caldwell. Isai Zaragoza-Avonce, age 20 of Caldwell was traveling westbound when, for reasons still under investigation, his vehicle went off the right side of the road and rolled several times. Zaragoza-Avonce and several minor children were treated at West Valley Medical Center and St. Alphonsus. All were treated and released with the exception of one 3-year-old, who remains at St. Alphonsus with minor injuries. Another passenger, 18 year-old Melinda Salscido, was transported to St. Alphonsus, where she remains in critical condition. Melinda was 26 weeks pregnant, and the baby was delivered.
