*** Update 2 ***

On June 24, 2015, at approximately 5:00 A.M., Idaho State Police investigated a pedestrian versus vehicle fatal crash on I15, at milepost 89, near Blackfoot, ID.

A pedestrian, whose name is being withheld until next of kin notification has been made, was walking in the right lane of northbound I15. Edward Kinney Jr., 59, of Pocatello, ID, was driving northbound in a 2015 Kenworth hauling two fuel tankers. Kinney swerved to the left to try and avoid hitting the pedestrian, but was not successful. The vehicle drove along the left shoulder where the rear trailer flipped and caught on fire. Kinney drove the semi back across both lanes of travel onto the right shoulder where he disconnected the Kenworth from the burning trailers. Kinney parked the vehicle on the right shoulder once he reached a safe distance.

The pedestrian succumbed to their injuries at the scene of the crash.

The northbound lanes of I15 have been blocked for approximately 5 hours. The lanes will continue to be blocked as the crash is being investigated.
