***Final Update***

On Wednesday, January 21, 2015, at approximately 6:15 p.m. Christopher Kempton, age 47, of Yuma, Arizona was travelling westbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 170, just east of Jerome. He was travelling in a 2011 Peterbuilt Semi-truck hauling a trailer loaded with glass. Near milepost 170, the truck left the right side of the roadway and Kempton lost control of the vehicle. Kempton drove back onto the roadway and the tractor came to rest in the median, leaving the trailer blocking both westbound lanes of travel.

Kempton was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. The westbound lanes were completely blocked and traffic was diverted around the scene for approximately one and a half hours. Lanes were then partially opened up while the scene was cleared, for approximately one hour.
This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
