The Idaho State Police's Bureau of Criminal Identification has released their annual "Crime in Idaho" report for 2013. This report is a synopsis of statewide crime statistics gathered from 108 law enforcement agencies across Idaho representing nearly 100% of the population, as indicated by the US Census Bureau. It includes a Statewide Profile, Crime against Persons, Property, Society, the Arrest Profile, Hate Crime in Idaho, Law Enforcement Officers Killed or Assaulted, crimes categorized by jurisdiction and many other statistics.

Highlights from the "Facts at a Glance" page and changes from those categories from 2012 include:

Crimes Against Persons, Crimes Against Property, Crimes Against Society, classified as Group "A" Offenses, have decreased 1.2%.

The crime rate in Idaho is 4,973.6 per 100,000 inhabitants. This statistic is based upon Group "A" Offenses and has decreased 2.2% from 2012.

The number of Violent Crimes has also decreased 0.3% from 2012 with 3,231 violent crime offenses reported to law enforcement. Idaho's violent crime rate is ranked 45th in the US, as measured against the FBI's "Crime in United States, 2012" report.

Crimes Against Persons were down 3.7% with 16,867 reported crimes. Crimes Against Persons continues to be on a five-year downward trend. Non-Consensual Sex Offenses, which is included in this category, has decreased 7% from 2012.

In 2013, there were no law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in Idaho. However, the number of assaults against law enforcement officers was up 10.8% from 2012, with a total of 266 assaults on officers.

Hate Crimes were down 11.1% with only 32 reported hate crimes.

Crimes Against Society increased 9.4% from last year with 17,700 crimes reported. Drug/Narcotic Violations and Drug Equipment Violations accounted for 93.8% of Crimes Against Society.

Crimes Against Property decreased 3.9% with 45,591 reported crimes. The top five property items stolen were Money, Merchandise, Tools, Consumable Goods, and Electronics.
