On June 28, 2012 at approximately 5:56 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 86 near milepost 53, near the Pocatello Airport Exit. Darrel Thomas, 81, and Diana (Fuller) Thomas, 73, both of Dillon, MT, were traveling eastbound on I86 in a 2002 RV that was pulling a white 2011 Ford F150 pickup. The right front tire on the RV blew causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle went off the interstate, through a fence, taking down power lines in its path, finally coming to rest on its top on the frontage road. The Thomas' were able to get out of the RV just before it caught fire. A small brush fire then ignited, but was quickly contained.

Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were transported by ground ambulance to Portneuf Medical Center with unknown injuries. The interstate was shut down for a short time to clear the crash scene and provide safety for travelers in the area. Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by Power County Sheriff's Office, Ft. Hall EMS Personnel, Bannock County Sheriff's Office and ITD.

The crash is still under investigation.
