************************************************************

On June 24, 2012, at approximately 2:15 pm, Idaho State Police investigated a single vehicle rollover on Interstate 84 near milepost 13, west of the Black Canyon Exit.

Shaun Read, 23, of Melba, was driving east in a 1987 Chevrolet Trailblazer, when a front wheel came off, causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and roll. Read was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Read was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise where he succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash. The passenger, Crystal Steffler, 19, of Boise, was wearing a seatbelt and was transported via ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medical Center in Ontario, Oregon where she was treated for minor injuries. The roads were blocked for approximately 2 1/2 hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is still under investigation by Idaho State Police.
