At approximately 3:13 PM today, May 31, 2010, a two-vehicle crash occurred westbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 69, 3 miles west of the Ada County/Elmore County line. Harland Ahyou, age 38, of Middleton was traveling westbound in the right hand lane of I84 when he attempted to pass a slow-moving vehicle. He went into the left lane where his Suburban struck a car being driven by Ashley Williams, age 22 of Mountain home. Ahyou lost control of his vehicle, overcorrected, and went off the right shoulder where his vehicle rolled one and a half times. Ahyou was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus in Boise for a head injury. Jennifer Ahyou, age 40, of Middleton was transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus, also for a head injury. A third passenger, 15-year-old Middleton resident Maya Harris, was transported by ground ambulance for a non-life-threatening knee injury. Harland and Jennifer Ahyou are listed in stable condition. Two minor children also in the Suburban were not injured. Ashley Williams and her passenger were also uninjured. All subjects were wearing seatbelts, and alcohol is not believed to have been a factor. The crash resulted in blockage of the westbound lanes for several hours. The investigation is ongoing by Corporal Eller of the Idaho State Police, with assistance from Sgt. Kelley. Ada County Deputies and Paramedics also assisted at the scene.
