Troopers have charged the driver of the pickup with driving under the influence of alcohol, a misdemeanor.

March 3, 2022 - Idaho State Police are investigating a vehicle collision that occurred at 6:48 PM on March 3, 2022, on US Highway 2 milepost 16, near Laclede, Idaho.

A Bonner County deputy was parked on scene of an abandoned vehicle on the highway. While investigating, the deputy's vehicle was impacted from the rear by a white Nissan pickup, driven by a 36-year-old male from Oldtown, Idaho. Drivers of both vehicles sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. It is unknown if the occupant of the pickup was wearing a seatbelt. Evidence was found on scene to indicate that alcohol may have been involved in this crash. That evidence is part of the ongoing investigation. The highway was partially blocked during the vehicle recovery and crash investigation for several hours.
