On Saturday, May 23, 2010, Idaho State Police investigated a non-injury commercial vehicle crash that occurred just prior to 1 P.M. outside of Jerome, Idaho.

Jesse A. Reed, 25 years of age, of Freeman Spur, Illinois was traveling westbound on Interstate 84 at mile post 172 in a commercial truck and trailer when he fell asleep at the wheel. His vehicle crossed the westbound lanes of travel, the median, and the eastbound lanes of travel before going down the shoulder embankment. The vehicle continued through two fences and over a canal before coming to rest. Mr. Reed lost his load on the way, and a significant portion of it landed in the canal. A hazardous materials response team was sent from the Jerome Rural Fire Department and determined that no hazardous materials entered into the canal.

Mr. Reed only received a few scratches and no other vehicles were involved in this crash. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time and has received a citation for inattentive driving.

Idaho State Police investigated this crash with the assistance from Jerome Rural Fire Department.
