******UPDATE******

On November 30, 2012, at approximately 2:07 p.m. the Idaho State Police responded to an injury crash involving a semi and passenger car that was blocking SH39 near milepost 33, near Springfield. Mark Powell, 66, of Springfield was traveling northbound on SH39 in a 1992 Mercury Topaz being followed by a semi truck and trailer driven by Rick Feldhege, 44, of Minnesota.

As Powell slowed to turn into a private driveway, Feldhege swerved to the right to avoid hitting Powell's vehicle. Powell also swerved to avoid being hit. The semi then rear ended the Mercury, pushing it off the right shoulder and into a power pole. The semi then rolled over onto the car.

Powell was taken by ground ambulance to Bingham Memorial Hospital. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts. Idaho Power was called out to assist with the downed pole and one lane was closed for approximately four hours while the vehicles were removed.
