Idaho State Police is investigating a vehicle collision that occurred at 12:35 A.M. on December 24th, 2021, on State Highway 51 at milepost 29 in Owyhee County.

The driver of a Chevrolet 4D Sedan was traveling southbound on State Highway 51 through open range and struck a cow that was standing in the lane of travel. The Chevrolet left the roadway and the cow stayed in the road. Shortly after, the driver of a Lincoln Standard was traveling southbound and struck the same cow. The Lincoln came to rest in the northbound lane of travel.

The occupants of the Chevrolet were transported by ground ambulance to a nearby hospital. A minor in the Lincoln was transported by family members to a nearby hospital. The occupants of the Chevrolet and the Lincoln were wearing their seatbelts. The northbound lanes of State Highway 51 were blocked for approximately four hours while emergency responders worked to assist those involved and clear the scene.

This incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
