May 19, 2021 - The Idaho State Police continue to investigate last night's crash on I-90 near milepost 9 between Post Falls and Coeur d'Alene.

Here's what is known at this time:
At approximately 10:51 p.m., the Idaho State Police received the call of a vehicle fire on the westbound shoulder of I-90. Upon arrival, Troopers observed a fully engulfed passenger car burning on the westbound roadside with the fire spread into the trees in the area. Further investigation this morning has led to the vehicle being identified as a gray 2018 Subaru Cross Trek, a compact SUV.

Additionally, investigating Troopers found roadway evidence indicating the Subaru was eastbound on I-90 near milepost 9 when it drove into the median. After crossing the median, the Subaru vaulted across both westbound lanes and the raised metal guardrail and landed in the trees on the westbound roadside of I-90. Sadly, the incident resulted in the death of the Subaru's driver, the only occupant of the vehicle. Today, ISP Troopers are working closely with the Kootenai County Coroner's Office to positively confirm the deceased.
