On Sunday, October 18, 2020, at 1:37 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a fatality crash on Friends Rd. near Middle Rd, just south of Greenleaf.

Scotty Abbott, 31, of Nampa, was driving southbound on Friends Rd. in a 2004 Toyota Sienna when the vehicle went off the right shoulder south of the intersection with Middle Rd. Abbott over-corrected and the vehicle rolled, coming to rest off the left side of the road. Abbott and his passenger, Tannesa Cavaness, 34, of Payette, were ejected from the vehicle.

Abbott and Cavaness were not wearing seat-belts. They were both transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise, where Abbott succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified.


This crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
