Over the past week, the Idaho State Police has conducted follow-up crash investigation on the hit and run crash involving a motor vehicle striking a pedestrian on State Highway 19 near the intersection of Paynter Avenue in Caldwell at approximately 01:00 hours on January 1, 2020. Based on the investigation, ISP Troopers located the vehicle involved in the crash and identified the suspect driver as Israel NUNEZ of Caldwell. NUNEZ was subsequently taken into custody without incident on January 6, 2020 at approximately 2030 hours and booked into the Canyon County Jail on a charge of Felony Leaving the Scene of an Injury Crash, I.C. 18-8007.

Idaho State Police is requesting the public's assistance in identifying the suspect in a hit and run crash. The vehicle vs pedestrian crash occurred on 1/1/2020 at approximately 1:00 a.m., near the intersection of State Highway 19 (Simplot Blvd.) and Paynter Ave. in Caldwell. Two adult pedestrians were walking north across SH19, when a westbound vehicle struck one of the pedestrians. The vehicle, believed to be a Kia or Hyundai passenger car, continued west on SH19, fleeing the scene. The suspect vehicle will be missing a passenger side headlight.
The pedestrian was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.
