Pursuit ends in Jerome County

At approximately 11:05 am, Ada County Deputies initiated a traffic stop in Ada County on I-84.  The suspect fled from the traffic stop and Ada County Deputies discontinued the pursuit at that time.  Upon investigation, it was determined that the driver was the suspect of possibly two kidnappings, was considered armed and dangerous, and had a felony warrant for his arrest.

At about 11:34 am, Elmore County Deputies, along with Idaho State Police and Gooding County Sheriff’s Deputies located the vehicle and continued the pursuit of the suspect. The pursuit resulted in the suspect traveling at high speeds, including driving the wrong direction on the interstate between Bliss and Wendell. Gooding County deputies and ISP continued the pursuit which ended north of Wendell, where the suspect’s vehicle became disabled.  The suspect then stole a pickup truck at gunpoint and continued to flee from Law Enforcement. Shots were fired at the suspect and the pursuit ended at a dairy near Wendell, in Gooding County.  When officers arrived on the scene the suspect was incapacitated.  Lifesaving measures were taken, however, the suspect died at the scene.   The Critical Incident Task Force (CITF), comprised of all major law enforcement agencies in the Magic Valley, was activated.  The Twin Falls Police Department is the lead agency in this investigation.  No officers, or members of the public, were injured during this event.

This is an ongoing investigation. Further information will be released by the TFPD, at the appropriate time. If anyone has any information regarding this incident or was a witness, please call the TFPD at 208-735-7200
