On Wednesday, September 18, at 08:08 AM, Idaho State Police investigated multiple injury crashes on Interstate 84 at milepost 182, near Kimberly.

Katelyn Hamby, 26, of Burley, and passenger Rigoberto Alvarado, 45, of Moses Lake, Washington, were traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 182 in a 2003 Dodge 2500 pickup pulling a horse trailer. A semi hauling a tanker made an improper lane change and Hamby went off the left side of the roadway to avoid a crash with the tanker. Hamby's vehicle went through the median and rolled. The trailer came unhitched from the truck and came to rest in the median. The pickup came to rest in the westbound lanes, blocking all westbound traffic.

Januz Rexhepi, 54, of Nampa, was driving a 2020 Peterbuilt tractor pulling triple trailers. John Goshorn, 41, of Mifflintown, Pennsylvania, and passenger, Christine Walton, 43, of Thompsontown, Pennsylvania, was travelling in a 2016 Kenworth tractor pulling a single trailer. Michael Hymer, 52, of Tooele, Utah was driving a 2007 International tractor pulling a single flatbed trailer.

Goshorn was stopped westbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 182 for traffic created by the first crash. Rexhepi failed to stop, and collided with the rear of Goshorn's trailer. Goshorn then collided with the back of Hymer's trailer.

Rexhepi was transported by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Hamby and Alvarado were transported by ground ambulance to St. Luke's Magic Valley Medical Center in Twin Falls. Rexhepi, Goshorn, Walton, and Hymer were wearing seatbelts. Hamby and Alvarado were not wearing seatbelts, however, the minor child in Hamby's vehicle was properly secured in a child seat.
The roadway is still blocked while crews work to clear the scene.

Idaho State Police was assisted by Kimberly Police Department, Jerome County Sheriff's Office, Magic Valley Paramedics, Rock Creek QRU, First Segregation Fire, Air St. Luke's, and Idaho Transportation Department.

If you have any information on the identity of the semi that was hauling the tanker, please contact Idaho State Police at (208) 736.3060.
