On Sunday, June 16, 2019, at approximately 6:00 a.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, injury crash on US-20 west of Gotsch Rd, near Parma.

Crystal Bates, 32, of Boise, was driving eastbound on US-20 in a 2002 Suzuki GVT. Carlos Lopez-Zeferino, 29, of Caldwell, was driving westbound in a 2006 Volkswagon Jetta. The Suzuki crossed the center line and the vehicles collided head-on.

Bates and Lopez-Zeferino were transported via air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise. Bates succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

Next of kin has been notified.

The lanes were blocked for about four hours while crews worked to clear the scene.

The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
