Fatality crash on US20 at Purple Sage road, west of Notus

On Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash at the intersection of US20 and Purple Sage road, approximately 1 mile west of Notus.

Dustin Steinhaus, 41, of Parma, was westbound on US20 in a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta. John Campor, 40, of Morristown, NJ, was eastbound on US20 in a 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Janet Battersby, 61, of Newton, NJ, was a passenger in the Jeep. The Volkswagen crossed the center line, striking the Jeep. Both vehicles came to rest in the lanes of travel. Campor and Battersby were wearing seatbelts; Steinhaus was not.

Campor was transported to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell by ground ambulance. Battersby was transported to St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise by ground ambulance. Steinhaus succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the crash. Both lanes of travel on US20 were blocked for approximately two hours and forty five minutes. Next of kin has been notified.
This crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.
