On June 2, 2018, at 9:57 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated two injury crashes westbound Interstate 84 at milepost 36, the Franklin exit in Nampa.

The first crash involved a black Jeep Wrangler that was driving westbound and tried to merge into the left lane. A juvenile driving a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt tried to avoid the Jeep Wrangler. They lost control of their vehicle, crashed into the barrier on the median side, and came to rest blocking the middle lane. The Jeep Wrangler left the scene of the crash. The second crash involved a 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Alfredo Jara Campos, 53, of Nampa. The Tahoe lost control, struck the back of the juvenile's vehicle, and then struck a 2015 Dodge Challenger driven by Brittiney Twiss, 27, of Meridian.

The juvenile and a juvenile passenger in the vehicle of the first crash were not wearing seatbelts. Twiss and her passenger Vannesa Martell-Mudrovich, 30, of Corona, CA, were wearing seatbelts. It is unknown if Jara Campos was wearing a seatbelt.

The juvenile passenger of the first crash and Jara Campos were transported by ground ambulance to St. Alphonsus Health Plaza in Nampa. The left lane was blocked for approximately one hour.
