On Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at 10:38 pm, the Idaho State Police investigated a single-vehicle crash in the median, westbound Interstate 84 in Caldwell.

David Cotten, 39, of Boise, was driving a 1986 Ford pickup eastbound on interstate 84 near milepost 29. Cotten drove off the left shoulder and came back on the roadway. Cotten overcorrected, drove off the left shoulder again and rolled in the median. Cotton was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Cotten was transported by ground ambulance to Saint Alphonsus Medical Center in Boise.

The eastbound emergency lane was blocked for approximately two hours.
