On January 24th, 2018, the Idaho State Police investigated an injury crash on east US 12 near milepost 63.4 in Lewis County, Idaho. William Mahorney, 87, of Kamiah, Idaho was traveling east on US 12 in his 2015 Ford Escape. Mahorney attempted to avoid rocks in the roadway and drove off the right shoulder into the ditch. Mahorney's vehicle drove through the ditch, rolled onto its top, and came to rest on the eastbound shoulder of the roadway. The roadway was completely blocked for approximately 25 minutes to allow medical personnel to safely extricate Mahorney. Mahorney was then transported to Clearwater Valley Hospital in Orofino, Idaho. The eastbound lane was then blocked for approximately 45 minutes to remove the Ford from the scene. Mahorney was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
