On Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at approximately 6:59 p.m., Idaho State Police investigated a two-vehicle, fatality crash northbound US-93 at milepost 65, eight miles south of Shoshone.

Larry Halbert, 39, of Caldwell, was southbound on US-93 at milepost 65 in a 2006 Ford F150 pickup. Cheryl Miller, 71, of Dietrich, was northbound on US-93 at milepost 65 in a 2014 Nissan Maxima. The Ford crossed over the center line and struck the Nissan head-on. The Ford came to rest in the lane of travel. The Nissan came to rest off the northbound shoulder.

Both Halbert and Miller were wearing their seatbelts. Alcohol was involved in this crash. Halbert was transported to St. Luke's Magic Valley by ground ambulance. Miller succumbed to her injuries at the scene of the crash. Next of kin has been notified.

The road was blocked for approximately four hours and fifteen minutes while crews worked to clear the scene.

Idaho State Police was assisted at the scene by the Jerome County Sheriff's Office and Idaho Transportation Department. The crash is under investigation by Idaho State Police.

Idaho State Police troopers are currently investigating a two vehicle crash eastbound US93 at milepost 65 in Jerome County. Both lanes are blocked at this time. More information will be released when available.
