On Sunday, August 20, 2017 at approximately 3:29 a.m., the Idaho State Police investigated a two vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 13, northeast of Parma.

Lavern Ford, 71, of Jefferson, OR, was driving eastbound on Interstate 84 in a 2015 Freightliner semi-truck pulling a box trailer when he drove off the right shoulder. Ford returned to the road, crossed through the median into the westbound lanes and struck Gloria Estes, 57, of Kennewick, WA, in a 2004 Toyota Sienna. Ford's vehicle came to rest in the shoulder of the westbound lanes.

Ford and Estes were taken by air ambulance to St. Alphonsus Medial Center in Boise, ID. Paul Ford, 44, of Jefferson, OR, a passenger in the Freightliner was transported by ground ambulance to West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell. Estes was wearing her seatbelt. Lavern and Paul Ford were not wearing seat belts.

The westbound slow lane was blocked for approximately four hours. The crash is under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
