Original Release:

A number of law enforcement agencies responded beginning at about 11:30 p.m. last night, July 28, after an individual responded with gunfire as Owyhee County Sheriff's Office deputies performed a welfare check at the individual's home.

The male subject fled in his vehicle, leading deputies on a pursuit into the Owyhee Mountains area. By 1:07 a.m. today, Owyhee County deputies requested assistance from other law enforcement agencies and that request was answered by:
- Nampa PD
- Caldwell PD
- Canyon County Sheriff's Office
- Idaho State Police

The individual stopped driving at approximately 1:07 a.m. today when his vehicle became disabled / wrecked on Hard Trigger Road in Owyhee County. A standoff ensued, and he continued firing intermittently on law enforcement officers before he was shot and killed by law enforcement officers at approximately 6:40 a.m. today.

This in preliminary information, and the investigation is ongoing. More information will be released as it becomes available. However, the CITF does not anticipate having the ability to conduct any on-camera interviews on this matter before Monday.
